Mosquitos will forever be a problem for any outdoors loving individual. These little pests can cause hours of itching and irritation. Further more the uncontrolable itching may lead to open sores or further skin irritations.
In an effort to avoid the worsening of a mosquito bite, simply run it under some hot water. This will provide hours of relief for the antogonizing itch. This method is said to also relieve poison ivy irritation as well.
The water should be fairly hot but not hot enough to burn the skin, about 120 to 130 degrees Farenheit. Just a few moments exposure to the affected area will due the trick.

The Hungry Wart
Warts... gross. Theres nothing like the disappointment of discovering a wart. They just seem so unsanitary. However, warts happen to the best of us. Most would schedule an appointment for freezing or other painful procedures but now you dont have to. All you need is a potatoe or a banana and a small amount of duct tape.
Simply cut a slice of the potatoe large enough to cover the wart and about an inch around the affected area. Place the slice of potatoe over the wart with the peel facing out. All you need to do now is duct tape the potatoe to your skin. Make sure that you use enough tape to cover the entire potatoe and so that no air is able to get to the skin around your wart. The same goes for the banana. Just use a slice of the peel with the fleshy side facing the wart. Leave the remedy on for an entire 24 hours. Check the wart the following day to measure its progress. repeat this process for up to seven days and your unwanted visitor will be a thing of the past.
The banana or potatoe absorbs the wart virus while the tape suffocates the wart. A sure end to your big, little problem.

A Sticky Situation
Ever fall asleep with gum in your mouth? How does it always end up in your hair when you wake up!? Maybe you left some gum in your pocket before you sent you pants through the wash. Dont be fooled, your clothes are not ruined. There is a simple and easy solution for the removal of this potentially pesky, classic American treat.
Clothes or hair, all you need is an oil based substance to rub this stuff out. Most commonly used is peanut butter due to it's thick consistency. Dont have any peanut butter? Not a problem any sort of oil will work. Lighter fluid will brake the gum down well too. However, the potentially harmful side effects steer most do-it-yourselfers away from this alternative. Cant get your hands on an oil based material? Dont worry! If nothing else, rubbing two peices of ice together on either side of the problem area will work well too. The ice will freeze the gum making it brittle and easy to pick away from its undesired location.

Get The Pepper!
I know that most of us probably have access to the basics of a first aid kit in case of an accident or injury. However, being a college student and having room mates, not everything is always there when you need it. Once again the answer to so many of our little problems can be found in the kitchen!
The next time that you get a cut or scratch, pretty much anything that doesnt require stitches, use black pepper to help stop the bleeding. Not only does the pepper cause the blood to clot almost immediately but it promotes the healing of the skin as well; so knicks and cuts will heal with virtually no scar. So the next time your in need of first aid, just get the pepper!

D.I.Y.
Ever wonder which is the best way to get gum out of your clothes? What about how to cure a headache when your out of advil? Well being a college student I am constantly looking for a cheap way to do things and being lazy I am always looking for an easier alternative. So I present to you a Do It Yourself guide to everyday problems. This blog will offer tips and suggestions to our common problems.
Ever wonder how they got by out on the old frontier? What would you do when the Doctor was unavailable for a house call? When all else fails, sometimes you just have to do the best with what you've got. Home remedies will get you by and get you going. Tradiational Tylenol or Motrin not working well enough for your stress headaches these days? Try this old school alternative to set your mind at ease.
Take one spoonful of powdered charcoal and mix it with molasses. Wash this down with a glass of raw rum or gin (a cure in itself). This is also recommended for preventing a headache. So if you know one is coming on, or think it might, or if there is the barest and slightest chance of a headache lurking in the near or far future this medicine should have you perky in no time.
